Essential

  • Understanding of and commitment to ethos of Catholic Education.
  • Understanding of contemporary learning and teaching principles and practice.
  • Accreditation to teach in a Catholic school or willingness to undertake the necessary professional learning to achieve accreditation.
  • Willingness to support and undertake formation In the Ignatian ethos of the college.
  • Well developed understanding of Key Learning Area concepts and content.
  • An energetic and creative attitude to working collegially in an environment that values continuous improvement.
  • The ability to provide a learning environment that engages and challenges students and encourages them to take responsibility for their own learning.
  • The ability to establish and maintain clear and consistent expectations for students as learners and for their behaviour in the classroom.
  • Understanding and commitment to the ideal of teaching the whole person.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in the co-curricular program.
  • Proficient classroom management ability.
  • The ability to plan, develop and document units of work.
  • The ability to assess student progress and provide meaningful reports.
  • Willingness and ability to take on the Homeroom teacher role.
  • Capacity for taking on Positions of Leadership.

Desirable

  • Ability to teach Religious Education.
  • An understanding of current issues in education.
